    Where to stay in Sydney

    Youth Hostels in Sydney
    Sydney Central YHA
It is part of the YHA Hostel Hostelling International network. Because I was left without a bed for not reserving on the Railway I had to stay two nights here. It is a gigantic hostel, one of the biggest in the world with over 500 bed. It was so big and impersonal for my taste, but it is a place that has everything, a pool, bar, restaurant, many TV rooms and a big kitchen, travel agency, and is situated perfectly. But the price is the most expensive in the whole country. It wasn´t the best place for me if you are a traveller traveling by yourself.

    Sheraton on the Park Hotel
This is a 5* hotel, overlooking Hyde Park, a tree-lined oasis in the center of Sydney. It is a great place to stay connected while overlooking Hyde Park, the Cathedral of St. Mary and Middle Harbour. The nearby monorail takes you to the points of interest of the city. The hotel is a 3 minutes' walk from the main Pitt Street.
    Youth Hostels in Sydney
    Railway Square YHA
It is a hostel from the YHA network of Hostelling International. The hostel is one of those places that catches your attention for the decor and is in the building adjacent to the train station. It has been converted into sleeping cars, has a small pool, with frames of pictures in the hallway, has a perfect location being only 1 minute from the train station, and all airport buses stop 50 meters away. It has good food and is clean. I spent 4 nights here, and it seems to always be full. When I wanted to reserve for the next 2 nights it was full, so reserve with enough time ahead.

    Orient Hotel
This hotel has long been a landmark in the city of Sydney. It has been around since the year 1844, and despite being named a hotel, it is known as a pub. Every night the restaurant, nightclub, and bar are full of people drinking and listening to music. During the day, it has a great atmosphere for drinks with co-workers.

    Four Seasons Hotel
Not cheap - like all Four Seasons worldwide - but definitely a great place to stay. The hotel is located on top of the Circular Quay, overlooking all the landmarks of Sydney; the rooms have truly breathtaking views. The breakfasts are great, served in a pleasant room on the first floor. The multinational staff are very welcoming, and this hotel is popular with film stars, and singers on tour!

    Sydney Harbour Marriott hotel
The hotel is very good and has more stars than any other hotel in town, but the rooms are a little small, and the view outside is nothing special (despite being on the Circular Quay), the staff are not particularly friendly, and the breakfast is also a bit lacking. In my opinion, not worth it. Although at least it's well-located, right in the centre, making it good if you'd like to spend a few days sightseeing.

    Base Sydney
I spent some time here in Sydney before I found an apartment to rent. The location is very central, behind the town hall and close to one of the city's main train stations. There is a bar next to the hotel, but I never had any problems with noise. If you're a light sleeper, though, you might have some issues. They have a travel agency inside the hotel, and the assistants are friendly and helpful. I bought some packages from them at very fair prices. There are free tours promoted, to the opera house and Bondi Beach, a good option if you're travelling alone and want to meet new people. There's no breakfast, but there's a large kitchen in the basement, which fills up with backpackers preparing their meals, and they also have several washing machines.
