Wuyi Mountain is a Unesco World Heritage Site of China. To arrive at this site, you must arrive by train to Wuyishan, or from Fuzhou, Xiamen as I did or from Quanzhou, from Wuyishn you should go to the people of Wuyigong that is exerted as the gateway to the park. Just like in other natural places of China, you have to pay to enter. The entry is not cheap at about 20 euros, but it is worth, and in the park, buses take you around. It is a place famous for its tea plantations and is known for its 36 mountain peaks. In fact, the famous 36 PEAKS have been an important place for Chinese intellectuals throughout history. There are Chinese tourists here, but it would be strange for you to encounter foreign tourists.
Xiamen is for the Chinese a big city to have quality of life, despite being a big city, we see a good way of living, communications are good as well as their transport, and there is a good economy. One can find parks and green areas. The old city extends parallel to the promenade, and you can still appreciate old buildings, the Zhongshan Park area is a place to walk and read relaxed.
If you viistar Wuyi Nature Reserve, you have two choices, sleeping in the cold city closer to Wuyigong year, which I think is the best option, or the entrance to the park. From Wuyishan You'd be by train from nearby cities, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, all are 10 or 14 hours by train. From the train station you can catch a local bus for 3 yuan into the village. There is a river running through the village, and you can see the mountains. You can see the museum at the entrance to the park - it is free and very nice
If you are in Xiamen for business or travel, Gulangyu Island is a highly recommended place to stay. In order to get there, you must take a ferry from Xiamen Wharf. You pay on the return trip. On the island, there are colonial style buildings, everything is pedestrianized and you will enjoy pleasant views. Xiamen, as well as near a good group of statues on its east side, was the area where the European representatives used to meet.
