This square / promenade is located just a few meters away from the Binh Tay market. The ends of the square are headed on one side by a doorway and on the other by a small kiosk. In the middle, there is a fairly large fountain, with a lovely dragon sculpture. There are usually a lot of homeless people around this place.
In this square you can find one of the city's landmarks, the Opera House. Vietnamese couples often choose it as a backdrop for wedding photos, and it's interesting to see them posing between the columns, while groups of stylists and makeup artists offer advice. The Hotel Continental is here, an institution that became world famous during the war, as reporters and American military personnel were based here. The magnificent Hotel Caravelle is here, too; that's where I stayed, and the photos are from the windows.
