I followed Lala2's recommendation and I went to eat at "Bar Lobo" with my boyfriend. Everything was delicious: tuna tataki with guacamole, asparagus tempura with Romescu (tomato and pepper sauce), assortment of tomatoes, toast of roastbeef with roquefort and walnut sauce and "croquetas." Just to say something negative, they forgot to give us bread even though we didn't need it and the dessert was quite expensive (6€ for two scoops of ice-cream!).
The place was very nice. We went inside because it was really hot outside. I loved the decoration with the high roof and very quiet background music. The waiters were really attentive. I highly recommend this place! Maybe one of the best we tried during our four days in Barcelona. Price including drinks and shared dessert: 48,80€
Very beautiful restaurant located in the middle of the eixample of Barcelona. Mediterranean dishes for incredible prices. I discovered this restaurant last Friday with my colleagues whom I was socializing with after a hard day's word.
The service is very good, we immediately connected with the personnel, they advise you very well. They have a set meal for 9.95€ with everything included, without a bad last minute surprise, but you especially enjoy the lovely, very cute and friendly place. Comfortable, 100% adapted for handicapped people. Exquisite decoration.
The price surprised us since the quality of the dishes is exceptional for a set meal, with the right quantity and original. The wine that goes with the set meal is interesting. If you are in Barcelona, write this place down on your agenda since it is also located in one of the most "chic" areas of Barcelona. They have a terrace outside. I will go back since it also looks very romantic at night ;)
One of the few restaurants with a dinner set meal for an average price, reasonable for the area and taking into account that in Barcelona restaurants with dinner set meals are scarce. Cozy and a central option to make the best of the night and have a walk afterwards or go for drinks in this lovely neighborhood, El Born, once again, the trendy neighborhood of Barcelona nights.
One of the first places my Catalan friends took me when I came to live in Barcelona and where I still go to sometimes. The Bar Central is located on La Rambla, inside the Boqueria market, more precisely on stands 494-496 and is the ideal place for an informal and quick lunch after a long walk in the center of the city.
There are no tables there, just a small counter with several stools around, always busy with tens of people almost fighting to get some space to eat in such a picturesque place, especially during the rush hour (from 12 to 2.30 in the afternoon).
This is why I recommend being very patient and ready to wait a few minutes before you get a spot. The truth is it is worth it. The products are of the finest quality: fish and seafood mainly, although there is also meat and vegetables.
The prices... well they are not exactly cheap. To get an idea, a lunch for two, with a big beer, a vermouth, octopus salad and a "ración" of baby squids cost 27€ the last time we went there (4€ for the drinks, 11€ for the salad and 12€ for the baby squids). But the portions are generous and we were completely full.
To sum up, a place I highly recommend to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in the very center of Barcelona. Maybe it is a not a place to go everyday, but once in a while... it is not too bad.
The Salt Shaker, this restaurant is in the neighborhood of la Conception in Cartagena. It has a classic design with a friendly atmosphere and very good service. It features a variety of dishes made very delicately by renowned chef Fernando Sanchez. Perfect for a romantic evening.
